CoolSculpting Body Contouring

FDA-cleared fat reduction for stubborn areas without surgery or downtime

CoolSculpting for the pockets that never respond to the gym

CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to freeze and permanently eliminate fat cells in targeted areas. Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than surrounding tissue, so the technology kills them without damaging skin, nerves, or muscle. Over the following two to three months, your body clears the treated fat cells through its normal processes.

It is not a weight loss tool. It is a body contouring tool for specific pockets of fat that resist diet and exercise.

How to think about CoolSculpting as part of a broader plan

CoolSculpting is most effective when you approach it with realistic expectations. A single treatment on one area typically reduces fat in that area by about 20 to 25 percent, which is a visible but not dramatic change. For patients who want more significant reduction, a second treatment on the same area eight to twelve weeks later can bring total reduction closer to 40 percent.

The most popular treatment areas are the lower abdomen and flanks, which respond reliably to CoolSculpting. Inner and outer thighs respond well but often need two treatments. Upper arms are a growing area, especially for patients with loose inner-arm fat. Back fat, bra roll, and upper glutes all respond well. The submental area under the chin is one of the smallest treatment areas but often provides the most visible results per session because of how visible the area is.

Some areas respond less well. Love handles near the base of the ribs can be harder because of how the fat sits over bone. Male chest fat caused by gynecomastia is better treated surgically in most cases. Abdominal fat caused by visceral distribution (fat behind the abdominal muscles) does not respond to CoolSculpting because the device can only reach subcutaneous fat under the skin.

Side effects are usually mild and temporary. The treated area feels numb or tingly for a few days. Some patients have mild bruising or tenderness that resolves within a week. Rare complications include paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, where the treated area actually enlarges rather than shrinks. This occurs in less than one percent of treatments, is more common in male patients, and is treatable with surgery if it occurs.

Maintaining results requires maintaining your weight. The fat cells that were eliminated do not come back, but the remaining fat cells in the area can still enlarge if you gain weight. Most patients who maintain their weight keep their CoolSculpting results indefinitely.

CoolSculpting pairs well with other aesthetic treatments. Skin tightening treatments like Morpheus8 or Vivace RF can address loose skin in the treated area. Complementary fat reduction treatments like Kybella (for the chin) or injectable lipolysis can handle areas CoolSculpting cannot reach. We discuss combinations when your goals go beyond what a single treatment can achieve.

Cost is a real consideration. CoolSculpting is priced per applicator cycle and per area. Most patients invest in a package of two to four cycles. Our team provides a detailed quote based on your specific areas and goals at consultation.

Who is a good candidate

CoolSculpting works best for patients who are near their target weight but have specific areas of stubborn fat that do not respond to continued effort. Common areas include the lower abdomen, flanks (love handles), inner and outer thighs, upper arms, back fat, and the submental area under the chin.

It is not appropriate for patients looking for significant weight loss, patients with loose or sagging skin where fat reduction would make laxity worse, or patients with specific medical conditions that contraindicate cooling treatments. Our consultation covers all of this.

What makes our CoolSculpting program different

Honest assessment before booking

CoolSculpting is not right for everyone, and we say so. If your concern is weight loss, loose skin, or a very large area of fat, we will tell you that other treatments fit better. We would rather you spend your money where it will actually work.

Dermatology oversight on every treatment

Your CoolSculpting plan is reviewed by our dermatology team. We consider your skin quality, fat distribution, and overall aesthetic goals, not just the single area you asked about.

Strategic applicator placement

Results depend heavily on placement. Our providers have treated enough CoolSculpting patients to know where the fat sits, how to angle the applicator, and when to use multiple applicators in sequence for a natural-looking contour.

How a CoolSculpting session goes

Plan for 35 to 60 minutes per treatment area. Your provider places a gel pad and an applicator on the treatment area. The applicator uses vacuum to draw the fat into the device and then cools it to the precise temperature that eliminates fat cells. The first few minutes feel intensely cold but the area numbs quickly, and most patients read, work on a laptop, or nap during treatment.

After the applicator is removed, the provider massages the treated area for two to three minutes. This massage has been shown to improve results. The area may feel tingly, numb, or tender for a few days afterward.

Results develop over eight to twelve weeks as your body clears the treated fat cells. Most patients see noticeable reduction after one treatment and some areas benefit from a second treatment six to twelve weeks later for maximum results.

FAQs

How much fat is reduced per treatment?

A single treatment on an area reduces fat by about 20 to 25 percent. A second treatment on the same area brings total reduction closer to 40 percent.

When will I see results?

Results start showing around six to eight weeks after treatment and reach full visibility at twelve weeks as your body clears the treated fat cells.

Is there any downtime?

No real downtime. The treated area may feel numb, tender, or tingly for a few days. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.

How long do the results last?

The fat cells that are eliminated do not come back. Results are permanent as long as you maintain your weight. Significant weight gain can cause remaining fat cells in the area to enlarge.

Is it safe?

CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared and has a strong safety profile. Rare complications include paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, which occurs in less than one percent of treatments and is treatable with surgery if it happens.
