Accepting New Patients

Same-week appointments often available across our nine North Georgia and Metro Atlanta offices

Yes, we're accepting new patients

If you've been putting off a skin concern because you weren't sure whether we were taking new patients, here's the answer. We are. All nine of our North Georgia and Metro Atlanta offices are open to new patients, and most weeks we can fit you in within five business days. You do not need a referral from your primary care doctor for most insurance plans.

The easiest way to book is online, where you can pick your preferred location, provider, and appointment type. If you'd rather call, our team answers the phone weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM at (770) 800-3455.

Everything we wish patients knew before booking

First things first. If you have insurance, you almost certainly do not need a referral. Our front desk verifies benefits for every new patient, and we'll let you know a day or two before your visit whether your plan is active, what your copay looks like, and whether any part of what you came in for might not be covered. That heads up happens in writing, so there are no surprises when you check in.

Second, booking is not an all-or-nothing choice between medical and aesthetic. A lot of patients come in for what they think is a cosmetic concern and learn something medical was going on underneath. Others are booked for a skin check and end up asking about a treatment they saw on social media. If you are not sure which visit type to pick, just choose new patient consultation and write a short note when you book. Your provider figures out the right path once they see you in the room.

Third, if you are switching from another dermatology practice, you do not need to ask your previous doctor to send records before your first visit. We can request them from their office after you book, which saves you a phone call. Bring whatever notes or photos you have, especially if you have had a skin cancer before, and your first visit can cover more ground faster.

Fourth, the patient portal is how most ongoing communication happens after your first visit. It is where biopsy results land, where prescription refills get requested, where you message your provider with a follow-up question, and where you schedule your next appointment. It takes about two minutes to set up at your first visit, and from then on, most questions do not require another phone call.

Fifth, we see kids, teens, adults, and seniors at every location. If you need an appointment for a child and another for yourself, the front desk can often schedule them back-to-back at the same office so you are not making two trips. The same goes for spouses, siblings, and close friends coming in together.

Who should schedule a first visit

You should book a new patient appointment if you've noticed a spot that's changing, have a chronic skin condition you want reassessed, or simply want a baseline skin check before summer. You should also book if you're switching from another dermatology practice and want all your future care in one place.

Kids, teens, adults, and seniors are all welcome. Our providers see everyone from infants with baby eczema to seniors coming in for post-transplant skin cancer screenings.

What makes a visit here different

Same-week appointments most of the year

You usually don't have to wait months to get in. Our schedule opens up within five business days for most concerns, and same-day slots exist for spots that look urgent.

A board-certified dermatologist on every care plan

Every treatment plan is reviewed by a board-certified dermatologist. That holds for visits with Dr. Cleaver, Dr. Gardner, and Dr. Waxweiler, and for visits with our PAs and NPs. No shortcuts on medical oversight.

Nine offices, North Georgia and Metro Atlanta

From Alpharetta and Johns Creek in North Fulton to Toccoa and Lavonia near the state line, you can usually find an office within a twenty minute drive. All nine share the same records system so you can switch locations anytime.

How a first visit actually goes

Plan for 30 to 45 minutes at your first visit. When you arrive, our front desk will confirm your insurance, review any intake forms you filled out online, and show you back to a room.

Your provider spends the first few minutes understanding why you came in. If you booked a full-body skin exam, you'll change into a gown and they'll check you head to toe, usually taking 10 to 15 minutes. If you came in for a specific concern, they'll focus there first, then offer to check anything else while you're in the room.

Biopsies, if needed, happen in the same visit. So do prescription refills, cryotherapy for warts, and sample product recommendations. You leave with a clear plan, any prescriptions sent to your pharmacy, and a follow-up date if one makes sense.
